Adobe Illustrator Self Portrait

I was asked to design a logo that included skateboarder Mike Girard's name that would be used on his own photography and website. I had to keep the logo flexible enough that it could over lay on images and still be legible, while keeping with the skateboarding/longboarding culture. 

This is part of my print project for school to create a duotone concert poster. We had the flexibility to choose any artist we wanted. 

Why print in duotone? Taken from the adobe website, "Duotones increase the tonal range of a grayscale image. Although a grayscale reproduction can display up to 256 levels of gray, a printing press can reproduce only about 50 levels of gray per ink. For this reason, a grayscale image printed with only black ink can look significantly coarser than the same image printed with two, three, or four inks, each individual ink reproducing up to 50 levels of gray."
